One of Denmark's leading observers of developments in the Arctic and the Commonwealth of the Realm (Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands). In 1995, Carl Bildt was the EU peace mediator in the former Yugoslavia. The same year, he participated in the negotiations leading up to the Daytona Agreement, and, from 1995 to 1997, he was the High Representative of the International Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
